Several kinds of progress, different purposes
Emberville’s descriptions connect combat and quests with new options, but do not describe one level that governs everything. The May 2025 journal separates character experience, weapon categories and class unlocks; the current store also connects progress with equipment and rescued villagers.
Compare the progression systems
A level on one track is not automatically a level on another. This comparison explains the role of each system without supplying unverified unlock numbers.
| Track | What it develops | Evidence and scope |
|---|---|---|
| Character | General growth through combat and quests | Developer journal; exact launch stat gains not established here |
| Weapons | Category-specific skills and combinations | Official journal and current weapon-combo description |
| Classes | Distinctive abilities and inherited skills | Current Steam description |
| Life skills | Gathering knowledge and production options | Official gathering/crafting descriptions; exact XP and unlock schedules are unverified |
| Town relationships | Rescues, quests, teachings and rebuilding | Current Steam description; not a second combat-level number |

Your weapon is more than a stat stick
Weapon-category practice belongs beside character growth, rather than replacing it. The official equipment/stat image below illustrates the interface, not a tested allocation strategy. Use weapons for the published description of independent weapon growth.

Unlocking, switching and inheritance
A class becoming available, being selected and contributing an inherited skill are separate changes. Classes owns the detailed comparison; this page places that track beside character and weapon development.
Progress beyond a fight
Gathering and crafting develop production options, while resident rescues and quests connect exploration with rebuilding and teachings. Follow life skills for activities and town rebuilding for relationships. Neither should be treated as an extra combat-level number.
Planning a build before launch
Start with the part of your character you want to change, then follow the responsible system: attacks → weapons; class abilities → classes; supplies → crafting; personal space → estate. Exact thresholds, stat spreads and efficiency rankings need evidence from a named game version.
