Weapon proficiency grows through use
The May 2025 journal describes weapon categories leveling independently of the character and gaining associated skills and bonuses through use. The fact sheet also connects weapon and armor category progression with class unlocks. This makes practice with equipment a distinct track; it does not establish today’s XP formula or unlock thresholds. Compare the tracks in progression.
Weapons give attacks their combinations
The current Steam description connects weapon-bound combos with chaining different attacks. The official fact sheet describes a two-button combat foundation, with positioning and timing contributing to action combat. These describe the attack system; they do not supply a universal input sequence or measured damage for every weapon.
- A weapon category describes the equipment family you are using.
- A weapon-bound combo is an attack combination associated with weapons.
- A particular item is the piece of equipment you carry; category examples are not an item catalogue.
A class adds another layer
Class abilities and inherited skills accompany the attacks supplied by a weapon. The official Knight showcase presents one class, not proof that every weapon shown belongs exclusively to it. See class switching and inheritance for that system.
Compare the system before comparing damage
The historical development journal names swords, bows and staffs as examples of independently growing weapon categories. The current Early Access description names melee, ranged and magic as broad combat approaches. The two lists describe different levels of detail.
| Source category | Examples or scope | What to take from it |
|---|---|---|
| Historical weapon examples | Swords, bows and staffs | Examples in the May 2025 journal, not a complete launch weapon roster. |
| Initial combat approaches | Melee, ranged and magic | Broad approaches in the Steam Early Access description, not named inventory items. |
| Current weapon mechanic | Weapon-bound combos and chained attacks | A stated combat feature; individual inputs and damage require separate evidence. |

Equipment belongs to the wider adventure
Use crafting for the role of equipment production and town rebuilding for resident teachings. For a future weapon comparison, record the item, category proficiency, active class, inherited skills, encounter and game version together. Otherwise a change in class or enemy could be mistaken for a difference between weapons.
