Gather with a destination in mind
Resources are the collection side of production. The sources name plants, wood, minerals and crops, and separately describe materials becoming equipment and supplies. This page distinguishes those two kinds of information: a category being named does not confirm an individual material-to-recipe connection.
Plants, wood, minerals and crops
The official fact sheet names plants, wood and minerals alongside farming. The May 2025 journal supplies the profession names and several broader categories below. “Not established” means the checked descriptions do not connect that category to a specific recipe; it is not a statement that the game has no such use.
| Activity | Named material category | Confirmed specific use | Source scope |
|---|---|---|---|
| Herbalism / plant gathering | Plants | Not established at individual material or recipe level | 2025 journal; official gathering fact sheet |
| Woodcutting | Wood | Not established at individual material or recipe level | 2025 journal; official gathering fact sheet |
| Mining | Stone, metals and precious stones | Not established at individual material or recipe level | 2025 journal; fact sheet names minerals |
| Farming | Crops | No individual crop-to-dish recipe established | Steam initial activity list; official fact sheet |

Follow a material to its use
The following output categories are named at system level. They show why gathering matters, but they should not be read as recipes for the material rows above. Crafting owns the detailed production overview.
| Purpose | Announced use | Read next |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment | Forge equipment for adventures and combat. | Weapons explains how equipment relates to attacks and growth. |
| Travel supplies | Make potions, food, tools and trinkets. | Crafting explains the production systems. |
| Personal space | Build and decorate with furniture, plants and other objects. | The estate follows customization and workshop uses. |
| Town projects | Gathering and crafting professions support restoration. | Town rebuilding follows the residents and the settlement. |

An environment is not a guaranteed drop location
The world is described as procedurally generated. A useful material location therefore needs an identified resource plus version, landmarks and relevant save conditions. Trees or rocks in a promotional image do not establish an ore name, drop rate or universal route. See world structure.
What a useful material record will contain
When an individual material becomes verifiable, its record should connect an exact item name with acquisition evidence and a documented use. This separates a useful material entry from an unlabeled image.
- The item’s exact name and a readable image or inventory reference.
- How it was acquired: gathering, a reward or another documented source.
- Its confirmed uses, with links to the relevant recipe or project.
- Quantities and conditions only when they are visible or reproducibly tested.
- The game build and the date of the observation.
